Color Outside the Lines! Healing Prayer Circle Tuesday, August 6, 2013
“We are so captivated by and entangled in our subjective consciousness that we have forgotten the age-old fact that God speaks chiefly through dreams and visions.” Carl Jung God has gifted each one of us with an imagination. As young children, we rely on our imaginations to make sense of the world around us. Our imaginations are the source of our inspirations, dreams, creative self-expression, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. It is our imaginations that stretch us in our ability to understand, empathize and develop compassion for others. Of course, with maturation and adulthood comes the ability to reason and apply logic – and all too often, that natural connection to our imaginations becomes greatly diminished.
Throughout the ages, contemplatives of various faith traditions have understood the significant role that the imagination plays in strengthening our connection to the Divine and in our overall spiritual health and healing. It was in the 16th century that St. Ignatius encouraged Christians to engage with Scripture by using their imaginations in order to seek “truth of the heart” rather than truth of the facts.
Please join us in the chapel on Tuesday, August 6, at 7:30 pm when we will gather together to tap into our imaginations that we might enrich our spiritual lives. It will be a time of reflection, sharing and song. We will also spend time with Scripture using a form of imaginative prayer – and art supplies! It would be helpful to know how many people to expect so that I can plan accordingly. Just drop Susan Kinzer a note (skinzer@midohio.twcbc.com) if you can make it – and if you don’t get a chance to do that, please come anyway! If you are in need of transportation or child care, please let Susan know by Sunday, August 4th, thanks.
Please join us if you can. It is never the same without you!
