Fiesta Dinner! Saturday, February 13, at 5:30 pm, make a reservation!

Join us for a fun and informative evening about Nicaragua Project Chacocente at
North Congregational UCC, 2040 W. Henderson Rd., Columbus.

The event helps send the North Church Team to Nicaragua this June 817, 2016 where they will work in partnership with the families of Chacocente.  Suggested donation of $10 per person.  Eat food typical of Nicaragua;  learn about Nicaragua from Rev. If the current weather makes you cold, think warm – the current daytime temperature in Managua, Nicaragua, is 88 degrees. So use your imagination and join us for a warm-hearted evening to support the Mission Team who will travel to Project Chacocente June 8-17, 2016!

The Fiesta Dinner will include wonderful food typical of Nicaragua, warm fellowship, and an entertaining and informative program led by John Cramton. Groups from North Church have traveled to Project Chacocente in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, so many long term friendships have developed. Project Chacocente is a remarkable program that has changed the lives of families who once lived on the Managua dump. Now 8 families own their own homes which they built, they have a school for 152 children (theirs as well as many others in the neighborhood), residents know how to read and write, they have gained skills and have learned to work together. The school has grown each year till it offers pre-school through grade 11, which is the final grade in Nicaragua. A full day (rather than a half day with 50 kids in the class typical of Nicaragua public school) includes computers, English, physical education, and the culture and arts of Nicaragua. Kim Heimlich and Chris Isaacs are team leaders for the Mission Trip.
