Music that makes a difference – top Columbus songwriters present The Concert for Children at the Border. The event, hosted by North Congregational Church, is raising funds for Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), providing legal counsel for children incarcerated by Homeland Security on the border with Mexico.
Among the scheduled performers are:
- Shaun Booker and Sean Carney, winner, Memphis International Blues Challenge
- RJ Cowdery, winner, Kerrville New Folk Festival
- Arkadiy Gips, violinist on two world tours with Madonna
- TJ George, winner, Columbus Music Awards
- Eric Gnezda, creator and host of Songs at the Center, the American Public Television Series
- Micah Kesselring, International Blues Challenge Finalist
- Keith Larsen, winner, CMT/Nashville Songwriters Assn. Int’l “People’s Choice” Award
- Matt Munhall, The New York Songwriters Circle
- Willie Phoenix, former A&M recording artist
- Jasey Schnaars, winner, ASCAP award, and Top Ten songwriter

The concert will also include an address from child psychologist Pam Warrick, Ph.D., “The Impact of Parent-Child Separation on Child Development.”
Members of North Church join hearts and voices in our community and country who have expressed anger and shock at the federal administration’s policy that separated refugee children and parents at the border.
We invite you to join us in a time of spirited music and honest telling, in a place that is welcoming of everyone of goodwill, in a gathering of shared concern and persistent hope.
