Just North has taken in a family of four from Honduras: Mom, Dad, toddler and brand-new baby seeking to make Columbus their new home. They had steady jobs and a home that they loved. But they faced credible death threats and were forced to flee suddenly, leaving everything they loved behind.

They walked for more than 90 days from a Honduras to Mexico, waiting months to cross the border through a legal port of entry. Very soon after arriving in the US Mom gave birth. Just 48 hours later they were loaded onto a hot, crowded bus and when they reached Columbus they had nowhere to turn. Their case for legal Asylum is strong but they need our support for counsel, application fees and daily living until they receive a legal work permit and a home of their own.

If we join together as a whole community on behalf of justice and compassion for this beautiful family we can, together, be an example of the values on which our nation was founded.

Many families are traveling from the southern US border after crossing legally from Mexico. The image above is from this article in the New York Times describing a typical passage for these families.

This article (paywalled) in the Dispatch covers the story of the family at Just North.
