The Board of Outreach is planning a sandwich lunch to celebrate the work of BREAD this past year. Members and friends have the opportunity to make an investment in the work of social justice in our community. BREAD (Building Responsibility Equality and Dignity), the Columbus grassroots interfaith justice advocacy organization, celebrates 25 years of making a difference in our community! This past year, work was done on affordable housing, reducing violence, restorative practices with youth in city schools, and environmental injustice. Each congregation pays dues based on their membership size which is only part of the revenue needed to sustain the organization. Expenses to host the Nehemiah Action Meeting at the Celeste Center, State Fairgrounds as well as staff community organizers and trainings make BREAD effective in their work. Our investments and gifts to BREAD mean we own our organization. Checks or electronic transfer should be made to North Congregational UCC with BREAD on the memo line. The lunch will be held at the picnic tables after worship on July 17.
