Mother in Sanctuary at Northwest Columbus Church Returns Home to Her Family With a Pathway to Security in the United States

Columbus, OH — On Sunday, January 27th at 1 p.m.,the pastor and congregation of Just North United Church of Christ will be joined by community leaders and the legal team for Angelica who earlier this week received a stay of deportation with documents that provide a pathway to adjust her legal status. Angelica returned home to her family after living in sanctuary at the church since October 29th, 2018. She is the first person in sanctuary in Ohio to ever win legal relief from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Rev. Eric Williams of Just North United Church of Christ said, “We are filled with joy to tell this sanctuary success story and encourage other residents and communities of faith to stay strong in hope and to pursue justice for their neighbors. While so many today are divided and hurting, we and many others are unified in offering sanctuary as an act of faith and love.”
